The production company behind Sinners earned a record-breaking 16 Academy Award nominations and walked away with four wins. Here's why we're proud to be part of their story.
Sinners, produced by Proximity Media and directed by Ryan Coogler, received 16 Academy Award nominations at the 98th Oscars, more than any film in history. It won four: Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score.
That is a remarkable result for an original film. No sequel. No existing IP. A $90 to $100 million period horror film set in the Mississippi Delta, made by a team that decided to do things their way.
Proximity Media has always operated like that. With a staff of around 25, the founders describe it as a scrappy working environment fueled by the underdog mentality from which the company was born. This was not their first time at the Oscars, either. *Judas and the Black Messiah*, an earlier Proximity production, earned the company its first Oscar nomination for Best Picture and won Best Original Song.
What's easy to overlook, when the headlines are this big, is how much work goes into the infrastructure behind a company like this. A production house at Proximity's level needs a website that reflects where they're going, not just where they've been. Fast to load, credible on arrival, and easy to update as new projects land.
We built that for them in Webflow. The CMS and component architecture we put in place means their team can publish new project pages, swap in new formats, and keep the site current without touching a line of code. The site grows as they do.
Congratulations to Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and the entire Proximity team. Making history takes more than talent. It takes the right infrastructure around you.
